UCEED Courses: All You Need to Know

UCEED is the abbreviation for Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design organised by The Industrial Design Centre (IDC) of IIT Bombay for admission in Bachelor in Design. After qualifying in UCEED, candidates can apply for admission in the B.Des program through a common application form. 

The UCEED-CEED office of IIT Bombay organises a joint admission process for taking students into its B.Des program. India’s top 5 institutes, including the IIT college of Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, and IIITDM of Jabalpur, take part in the Joint admission process. Students get colleges based on their preference of college and the cutoff of the particular institute. 

Courses Offered to UCEED Qualified Students

IIT College of Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, and IIITDM of Jabalpur offers a B.Des programme to design aspirants who qualify in UCEED. These institutes also offer students an Integrated dual degree programme (B.Des + M.Des). At the end of the 3rd year, aspirants can opt for an integrated master programme of their choice in specialising in Industrial Design, Communication Design, Animation Design, Interaction Design & Mobility and Vehicle Design. 

Apart from IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, and IIITDM Jabalpur, many institutes like VIT School of Design (V-SIGN), CEPT University, Nirma University, Chitkara institute, Symbiosis School of Planning Architecture and Design, Nagpur, etc. also take admission based on UCEED scores.

 What is the UCEED Course Duration?

UCEED courses offered at top IIT campuses like Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, and other prestigious institutes are a four-year Bachelor in Design(B.Des) program in various disciplines. Some institutes also offer a 5 years integrated master’s program to candidates. 

What is UCEED eligibility? 

Candidates are 25 years old from any field; Arts, Commerce, Science and Humanity can apply for UCEED. There is a 5 years concession for SC and ST candidates. Besides, you can sit for this exam a maximum of two times, and these two times should be in two consecutive years.
